What's Happening?

A run down of upcoming events.

We are entering a very busy time of year both in the life of the church and undoubtedly in our personal lives,  We have several worthwhile ministry events and fellowship opportunities we want to make sure that you are aware of. All of which can also be found on our church app, where registration and sign-ups can be done. If you have not yet downloaded the app, please take a moment to go to your app store to download to your phone and even your tv and other mobile devices! This is the best way to stay in the loop of all that we have going on!

The following will be a run down of events we currently have on the calendar.
Operation Christmas Child-Pack a Shoe Box
We will gather here at the church Wednesday, October 25th, at 6:30 pm to pack our boxes. We have approximately 200 boxes to fill so we are encouraging all cell groups to forgo their normal meetings to participate in this awesome ministry. Dinner will be provided so please let us know if you plan to attend. Thanksgiving Potluck 
Can you believe we are talking about Thanksgiving already?! Make plans to join us for a Thanksgiving Potluck meal Sunday,  November 5th, immediately following the morning worship service.  Potluck sign-up can be found here: https: //www.PerfectPotluck.com/LJIP0331

Election Day
FCC is again an Election Day voting site! Election Day is Tuesday, November 7th from 7am- to 7pm. Our church has become known as , the "place to vote," as in year's past we have provided sandwiches and other goodies to the voters and poll workers. What an easy, yet effective way to show love to our community! If you are able to contribute a plate or two of sandwiches or other grab-and-go food items, please make sure to let us know. Also, we will need volunteers to man the food table and keep stocked as well as greet our visitors. Thanksgiving Turkey and Jacket Distribution
FCC will be holding our 3rd Annual Thanksgiving Turkey and Jacket Distribution! The Lord has continued to provide so we will continue to serve and give! Little by little, we have watched this ministry grow! Your help is greatly needed! If you are able, please consider donating a new coat/jacket, We have already purchased  turkey/ham vouchers and are currently, prayerfully considering how to distribute  side items for Thanksgiving dinner. Monetary donations would also be greatly appreciated, as the Lord leads. The most impactful way you can help would be to donate your time! The distribution is scheduled for Saturday, November 11th, from 9 am until 12p or while supplies last.
2023 Men's Retreat
Friday, December 1st, thru Saturday, December 2nd, FCC men are invited to attend the FCC Men’s Retreat!

Men will gather at the Circle 6 Baptist Retreat Center at 2pm. Dinner will be provided that evening. Breakfast and lunch will be provided Saturday. Check-out is 3pm. There will be times of worship, prayer, and devotion as well as plenty of fun and fellowship opportunity with axe throwing, paintball, and camp fire!

Men, don't miss this opportunity to learn and reflect on what it means to be a Christian man in the world we live in today. Invite a buddy, bring your sons or grandsons!

Registration is $93 per person and can be paid online at the time of registration. Financial aid is available.

FCC Christmas Banquet
The FCC Christmas Banquet will be held Friday, December 8th, beginning at 6:30 pm until 9 pm. Gomez Catering will be serving a delicious Christmas dinner will Beef Tip in Mushroom marsala sauce, Chinese 5 Spice with Teriyaki Glaze Chicken, Garlic Mashed potatoes, Green beans and bacon, Garden salad, Pecan pie and Italian cream cake.

Voces Dei will bring the joy of Christmas through songs and carols. Contributions toward this ministry will be accepted and appreciated at the banquet.  All donations will benefit  Reflection Ministries. We also look forward to a skit presented by our youth!

Please make plans to join us for this beautiful of celebration and invite friends and family! So that we can ensure we have the appropriate accommodations, please take a moment to register and let us know how many in your party will be attending. ◼

National Day of Prayer

The Midland Ministerial Alliance is hosting National Day of Prayer at Centennial Park. This event is free for the public to attend. The event's purpose is for the gathering of believers in Jesus Christ from churches all over Midland to pray together.

Obituary of Elsie Margarette Carter Lindquist

Elsie Margarette Carter Lindquist was born January 2, 1928 in Groveton, Texas. She passed away March 2, 2023, at age 95, at Scott and White Hospital in Lakeway, Texas. Elsie was a loving wife, devoted mother and Nanny who always reminded her family how much she loved them.
She came to Midland, Texas at an early age. She married M.H. (Herschel) Carter on January 4, 1947. It was here she cared for her family and raised her two daughters and two sons.
After retiring, Elsie and Herschel moved to Lake Brownwood to enjoy fishing and tending her vegetable garden. Later they moved to Lake LBJ where she enjoyed gardening, learning line dances and golfing with her husband.
In 1997, they moved to Harlingen, Texas to enjoy the warm weather. After Herschel passed away Elsie married Bill Lindquist on October 5, 2002 and moved to Kingsland, Texas. They enjoyed their life together visiting friends, family and volunteering.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents Arch and Laura Baker; first husband M.H. (Herschel) Carter; son Mike Carter; sister Ollie Mae Parker; and brothers Dolph and Earl Baker.
She is survived by her husband Bill Lindquist; daughters Cindy Cuny (husband Matt) and Carolyn Wilson (husband Danny); son Rick Carter (wife Sherree); and stepson Chuck Lindquist. She also leaves behind grandchildren Jeanna Cuny, Janice Leal (husband Carlos), Laura Wilman (husband David), Daniel Wilson (wife Emily), Allison Hensley (husband Kevin), Cory Carter, Mitzi Crabtree, Austin Carter, Michael Carter, and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2023 at Ellis Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel at 4616 N. Big Spring Street in Midland. The graveside service will follow at 11 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park at 4616 N. Big Spring Street in Midland. Pastor Lonnie Phillips of Fellowship Community Church will officiate.
